About Parkview Professional Counseling

At Parkview, we are a small team of highly experienced therapists who believe deeply in both clinical excellence and genuine human connection. We serve adults, couples, and families in West Michigan from a quiet, private office overlooking Palmer Park in Wyoming. We exist to offer the kind of care we would want for the people we love most: skilled, compassionate, and centered on lasting change for the whole person, mind, body, and spirit.

What We Do Best

Specialized Treatment for First Responders

Parkview Counseling offers experienced providers with military and law enforcement backgrounds for first responders. We recognize the unique challenges they face and provide tailored support to address their mental health needs, ensuring they receive the care and guidance necessary for their well-being.

Treating Co-occurring Addictions

Struggling with addiction and mental health issues at the same time? At Parkview Counseling, we treat both—together. Our licensed clinicians use proven therapies (CBT, ACT, Motivational Interviewing) to address substance use and underlying conditions like depression, anxiety, or trauma.

Faith Based Support Options

We welcome Christian clients seeking therapy that honors their faith.  Our licensed therapists can weave Biblical wisdom into evidence-based care to help you navigate anxiety, depression, marriage challenges, grief, trauma, or life’s deepest struggles. Healing for the heart, mind, and soul.

We know that faith honoring counseling is important to many clients.  Parkview offers counseling from the Christian perspective when requested.  Counseling from the Christian worldview does not replace evidence-based psychological treatments. Instead, it integrates sound clinical methods (like CBT, EMDR, etc.) with spiritual principles in an ethically responsible way to achieve the best possible outcomes.  Our practice is welcoming to all people, regardless of where they are on their faith journey, whichever faith they possess—or hold no faith at all.

FAQs

Common Questions

Is counseling confidential?

Confidentiality is one of the most important components of the client-psychotherapist relationship. Successful therapy requires a high degree of trust regarding sensitive subject matter that is generally not discussed anywhere but the therapist’s office. Every Parkview therapist provides a written copy of their confidential disclosure agreement (Informed Consent), and you can expect that what you discuss in session will not be shared with anyone.

However, state law and professional ethics require therapists to maintain confidentiality except for the following specific situations:

  • Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders requires therapists to report to the appropriate authorities, including Child Protective Services and law enforcement.

  • If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming themselves or has threatened to harm another person.

How can therapy help me?

Therapy offers a guided path to navigating life's challenges, providing support, problem-solving skills, and a fresh, objective perspective when you need it most. Seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness—it demonstrates the self-awareness and commitment required to make real change.

At Parkview Counseling, we equip you with practical, long-lasting tools to manage stress, anxiety, and relationship struggles effectively. The benefits of this process typically include:

  • Gaining a better understanding of yourself, your goals, and your core values.

  • Learning healthier ways to cope with stress, anger, and anxiety.

  • Improving communication skills in family, marriage, and interpersonal relationships.

  • Changing unproductive behavior patterns and boosting your ability to function.

Do you accept insurance?

Important Note on Verification:

While we accept these providers, coverage for mental health services ultimately depends on your specific insurance plan's details (e.g., deductibles, copays, session limits).

To ensure a smooth process and avoid unexpected costs, we strongly recommend that you contact your insurance provider directly before your first appointment to verify your specific mental health benefits. If you have any questions or need assistance verifying your coverage, please contact us directly at admin@parkviewcounseling.org or calling us at
